HONG KONG -- The University of Hong Kong (HKU) announced on Sunday that it has signed an agreement with Tohoku University, Japan (Tohokudai) to collaborate on the research of transformative AI and robotics technologies.

The signing ceremony was held on Saturday at the HKU campus. HKU and Tohoku University will combine their advantages and strengthen the application of AI and robotics in areas including manufacturing industry, construction industry and the development of smart cities. They are planning to establish the Center for Transformative AI and Robotics Technologies in Hong Kong. (Hong Kong-Japan-University)

SEOUL -- Both the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) and the United States did not want to go back to the past confrontation and tension, South Korea's presidential Blue House said Sunday.

MAIMANA, Afghanistan -- At least 13 Afghan security forces and 15 militants were killed following fresh clashes in the country's northern province of Faryab early Sunday, a military source said.

"The clashes erupted after Taliban militants stormed national army and Afghan Local Police checkpoints in Harkilik locality of Qaysar district, southwestern side of Faryab," Hadi Jamal, a press officer of army's Division 20 Pamir based in the region, told Xinhua. (Afghanistan-Clashes)

JAKARTA -- Sixty-three bodies have been retrieved after flash floods hit Indonesia's easternmost Papua province on Saturday night, and a search and rescue operation is still ongoing for dozens still missing, a rescue team member said on Sunday.

The flash floods, triggered by torrential rains, destroyed buildings, bridges and other infrastructure facilities, Cory Simbolon, head of the emergency unit of the provincial disaster management agency, told Xinhua. (Indonesia-Flood)

CHRISTCHURCH/WELLINGTON -- The death toll from the terror attacks on two mosques in New Zealand's Christchurch has risen to 50 as one more victim was found at one of the shooting scenes, the police said on Sunday.

Investigators found the victim while removing bodies from the Masjid Al Noor Mosque where more than 40 people were killed as a gunman stormed the mosque and went on a shooting rampage on Friday afternoon, Police Commissioner Mike Bush told a press conference.
