JAKARTA -- The death toll from flash floods and landslides in Indonesia's easternmost Papua province has climbed to 77 with 116 others injured, a local official in charge of rescue efforts said Monday.
Spokesman of the search and rescue office in Jayapura district Yudi Yanto said 41 people were seriously injured and 75 others had minor wounds after the natural disaster hit several villages Saturday night. (Indonwsia-Floods-Death)

SEOUL -- South Korea's defense ministry said on Monday that it will push for military talks with the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) this year to draw up measures for the implementation of the military agreement.
The ministry made the announcement in the work report to the parliamentary defense committee, saying it will draw up actual measures, through working-level and general-level military talks with the DPRK, to implement the Sep. 19 military agreement.(South Korea-DPRK-Military talks)

WELLINGTON -- New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern said on Monday that the cabinet has decided to reform the gun law within 10 days.
The reform of the gun law is agreed by three coalition partners -- New Zealand Labour party, New Zealand First Party and Green Party, Ardern told a press conference after a cabinet meeting. (New Zealand-Gun Law)

WASHINGTON -- The U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) is investigating the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) for its approval of Boeing 737 MAX, two of which have crashed.
According to the Wall Street Journal Sunday, the DOT's Inspector General is looking into whether the FAA used appropriate design standards and engineering analysis in certifying the anti-stall system, known as MCAS, which is suspected of playing a role in the recent crashes. (US-FAA-Probe) Enditem
