WASHINGTON -- U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said recently that he would discuss the Middle East Strategic Alliance, energy and the "threat" of Iran during his upcoming trip to the region.

Pompeo's March 19-23 visit includes stops in Beirut, Jerusalem, and Kuwait City. MOSCOW -- Russia is open to discussing solutions aimed at preventing an arms race while strengthening international security and stability, the Russian Foreign Ministry said Tuesday.

OSLO -- Four school employees were slightly injured Tuesday after a student threatened a teacher with a knife at a primary school in Norway's capital city, public broadcaster NRK reported.

Police said they have arrested the attacker at Brynseng school in Oslo. The four injured, a teacher and three other staff members, have been sent to the hospital. (Norway-Knife Attack)

ASTANA -- Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev announced his sudden resignation on Tuesday after nearly three decades of leadership in the Central Asian country.

"As the founder of an independent Kazakh state, I see my future task in ensuring a new generation of leaders coming to power who will continue the transformations being carried out in the country," Nazarbayev said in a statement before signing a decree terminating his presidency from March 20.
