WASHINGTON -- U.S. special counsel Robert Mueller has submitted a confidential report to Attorney General William Barr, marking the end of his nearly two-year investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election, media reported Friday.

The Justice Department notified Congress late Friday that it had received Mueller's report but did not describe its contents, according to The Washington Post. (US-Russia-Probe)

GAZA -- At least two Palestinians were shot dead and more than 62 injured by Israeli soldiers' gunfire in clashes with hundreds of demonstrators in eastern Gaza Strip on Friday afternoon, medics said.

Ashraf al-Qedra, spokesman of the Health Ministry in Gaza, told Xinhua that 29-year-old Nidal Shatat was killed in east of al-Bureij refugee camp in central Gaza Strip, close to the borders with Israel, while 18-year-old Khaled al-Akhsham was shot dead in east of the city. (Israel-Palestine-Gaza)

WASHINGTON -- The U.S. federal budget deficit reached 234 billion U.S. dollars in February, the biggest budget deficit on record for the month, the Treasury Department said Friday.

The figure is 8.7 percent up from the same month a year ago. For the first five months of the fiscal year 2019 that started on Oct. 1, the deficit totaled 544.2 billion dollars, up 39 percent from a year ago. (US-Budget-Deficit)

BAGHDAD -- The Iraqi Ministry of Health announced on Friday that 96 bodies were recovered after the ferry sinking incident in Iraq's northern city of Mosul.

Saif al-Badr, spokesman of the ministry, said in a statement that "96 bodies of the victims of the ferry sinking in the city of Mosul were recovered from the Tigris River," adding that most of the victims were women and children. (Iraq-Mosul-Ferry Sinking) Enditem
