BERLIN, March 25 (Xinhua) -- Germany's adhesive manufacturer tesa, owned by the German personal-care company Beiersdorf, recorded its strongest growth in the Asia business region last year, with sales up by more than 12 percent, the company announced on Monday.
Last year, tesa's project business with the electronics industry in Asia helped push its sales up by 6.8 percent to 1.34 billion euros (1.52 billion U.S. dollars).
Tesa announced that it was planning to invest more than 30 million euros to expand its site in the Chinese city of Suzhou. The new unit would create additional capacity for the production of special adhesive tapes for coming generations of electronic devices, said the company.
Tesa also launched a flagship e-commerce store for industrial products on the business-to-business platform of the Chinese online marketplace Alibaba.
"We are strengthening our competitiveness by continuing to invest in innovation and the expansion of our presence in growth regions and digital markets," said tesa chief executive officer Robert Gereke. Enditem
