PARIS -- Great changes have taken place in the international situation, but the China-France relations have always kept developing on a high level and in a sound and stable way, Chinese President Xi Jinping said on Monday.

He said that since French President Emmanuel Macron took office, the bilateral ties have reached a new high in just less than two years, with many new outcomes achieved.

This year is of special commemorative significance, as it marks the 55th anniversary of China-France diplomatic ties, the 100th anniversary of the Chinese Work-Study Movement in France, and also the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, Xi said.

WASHINGTON -- "We look forward to receiving the report in full no later than April 2, and to begin receiving the underlying evidence and documents that same day," six Democratic committee chairs in the U.S. House of Representatives said in a letter on Monday.

They requested Attorney General William Barr submit the full report from special counsel Robert Mueller on the Russia investigation to Congress by April 2.

The top House Democrats wrote in the letter to Barr that his summary of the Mueller report "is not sufficient for Congress."

WASHINGTON -- "Washington's attempts to organize a coup in Venezuela and threats against its legitimate government are in violation of the UN Charter and undisguised interference in the internal affairs of a sovereign state," Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov was quoted by a foreign ministry statement as saying on Monday.

The U.S. State Department said on Monday that Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and his Russian counterpart Lavrov held a phone conversation over the situation in Venezuela.

Pompeo told Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov that "the United States and regional countries will not stand idly by as Russia exacerbates tensions in Venezuela," according to a State Department statement. Enditem
