TOKYO, March 27 (Xinhua) -- An earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 5.4 struck off Japan's Miyazaki Prefecture, on the southeast coast of Kyushu Island, on Wednesday, the Japanese weather agency said.

According to the Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA), the temblor, which occurred at 9:11 a.m. local time, struck offshore, with its epicenter at a latitude of 32.2 degrees north and a longitude of 132.2 degrees east, and at depth described by the JMA as "very shallow." Enditem
