LONDON, March 29 (Xinhua) -- The English Football Association announced here on Friday that Mark Bullingham, the chief commercial and football development officer, has been appointed as the new chief executive.

He will succeed The FA's current chief executive Martin Glenn, who announced in December that he would step down from the role at the end of the 2018-19 season.

Bullingham joined The FA in August 2016 as commercial and marketing director to lead the commercial, marketing and digital functions within the organisation. In December 2018, his role developed to chief commercial and football development officer, with the added responsibility of leading the Football Participation and Development department. His start date in the new role is to be confirmed.

The FA said in a statement that Bullingham's contribution to world's oldest football association includes: helping to grow annual FA revenue by 25 percent, key sponsorship deals with Nike and Barclays, record-breaking domestic and international Emirates FA Cup broadcast agreements, record viewership and engagement figures on FA digital channels, the successful 2021 UEFA Women's EURO bid, tripling Wembley Stadium concert revenue and restructuring The FA's Participation & Development program.

Bullingham is also a FA Level 1 qualified coach and has managed an U-9 girls' and U-11 boys' teams for the last four years.

"This is an incredibly exciting time to be at The Football Association and I'm delighted to be given this opportunity," said Bullingham.

"I'm confident in the talent and determination of the workforce here and the direction we are heading together." Enditem
