BEIJING -- Chinese stocks closed mixed on Tuesday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index ending at 3,176.82 points, up 0.2 percent.

The Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.07 percent lower at 10,260.36 points.

SINGAPORE -- Singapore shares closed 0.9 percent higher on Tuesday, buoyed by the rebound in Chinese and the U.S. manufacturing data that signaled the world's two biggest economies are stabilizing.

Stock markets strengthened worldwide as strong manufacturing data out of both China and the U.S. helped allay investor concern about a slowdown in global growth. Yields on U.S. Treasuries rose the most since January after as U.S. factory orders topped estimates in March.

MUMBAI -- Indian markets closed higher Tuesday for fourth consecutive day. Among the sectors, PSU and auto led the gainers followed by infra and IT, while FMCG, metal and pharma witnessed selling pressure.

The benchmark S&P, BSE Sensex closed at 39,056.65, 184.78 points or 0.48 percent up compared to its previous close at 38,871.87.

KUALA LUMPUR -- The Malaysian stock market ended higher here on Tuesday.

The Kuala Lumpur Composite Index (KLCI) was at 1,632.83 up 14.97 points or 0.26 percent, and the Emas was at 11,511.04 up 30.64 points or 0.27 percent.

TOKYO -- Tokyo stocks closed flat Tuesday as earlier gains were erased on profit-taking after the Nikkei added more than 200 points on buying backed by solid U.S. and Chinese economic data.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average dropped 3.72 points, or 0.02 percent, from Monday to close the day at 21,505.31.

HONG KONG -- Hong Kong stocks closed up 62.65 points, or 0.21 percent, to 29,624.67 points on Tuesday.

The benchmark Hang Seng Index traded between 29,534.42 and 29,736.99. Turnover totaled 107.96 billion Hong Kong dollars (about 13.75 billion U.S. dollars).

HANOI -- Stock market index of Vietnam's capital Hanoi, HNX-Index, closed at 107.48 points on Tuesday, down 0.24 points or 0.22 percent from the previous trading session.

VIENTIANE -- The Lao stock market closed on Tuesday with a decrease of 0.21 percent compared to the previous trading day.

The Lao Securities Exchange composite index decreased by 1.74 points, reaching 815.11 points after closing.

MANILA -- Philippine shares closed 0.50 percent higher on Tuesday.

The benchmark Philippine Stock Exchange index increased by 38.90 points to 7,879.21. The all-share index went up by 20.73 points, or 0.43 percent, to 4,844.86.

SEOUL -- Seoul shares ended higher Tuesday.

The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) rose 8.90 points, or 0.41 percent, to settle at 2,177.18. Trading volume stood at 250 million shares worth 4.1 trillion won (3.6 billion U.S. dollars).

SYDNEY -- The Australian share market was higher on Tuesday with tech stocks leading gains and energy providing strong support.

At the close of the market, the benchmark S&P/ASX 200 index was up 25.40 points or 0.41 percent at 6,242.40, while the broader All Ordinaries index was up 28.10 points or 0.45 percent at 6,327.80.

WELLINGTON -- The New Zealand share market rallied a second day into the new financial year on Tuesday.

The S&P/NZX 50 Index increased 104.44 points, or 1.06 percent, to a record high of 9958.35. Within the index, 41 stocks gained, 8 fell, and one was unchanged. Turnover reached $137.3 million. Enditem
