ATLANTA, the United States -- Ending trade tensions will better serve the interests of both the United States and China, a U.S. state legislator has said.

"We hope everything levels out and you keep buying stuff from us and we keep buying it from you," said Tom McCall, chairman of the Agriculture and Consumer Affairs Committee at the Georgia State House of Representatives, in a recent interview.

The trade volume between Georgia state and China "has done nothing but increase" over the past 40 years, McCall said.

DAMASCUS -- The Syrian government's patience about the situation in the northwestern province of Idlib, the last major rebel stronghold in Syria, "has limits," Syria's Foreign Minister Walid al-Moallem said Thursday.

Al-Moallem made the remarks at his joint press conference with the visiting Jorge Arreaza, the Venezuelan Foreign Minister, who arrived in the capital Damascus earlier in the day and met with Syria's President Bashar al-Assad.

During the press conference, al-Moallem answered a question about the situation in Idlib, saying that the Russian allies of the Syrian government said that Turkey wants the implementation of the Sochi agreement about Idlib.

CAIRO -- Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi and visiting UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres on Wednesday discussed the recent developments in the Middle East region, particularly in turmoil-stricken Libya, Syria and Yemen, said Egypt's presidential spokesman Bassam Rady in a statement.

"The UN official reviewed the UN efforts to reach political settlement to these regional issues, noting the UN keenness on enhancing cooperation with Egypt to safeguard peace and security in the Middle East region," Rady added.

LILONGWE -- The Chinese people share the same grief with Malawi, Chinese Ambassador to Malawi Liu Hongyang said during a symbolic presentation of the items in the capital, Lilongwe on Wednesday.

China donated more than 6,000 tons of rice and at least 300,000 U.S. dollars as humanitarian aid to Malawi victims of flood disaster.

About 2,000 tons of rice had been transported to the disaster-hit country. Enditem
