KIEV, April 4 (Xinhua) -- Ukraine has successfully tested its new high-precision missile system Vilkha-M, the country's National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) said on Thursday.
During the tests that were carried out at a testing range in Ukraine's southern Odessa region, Vilkha-M launched missiles which destroyed the targets at a distance of 120 kilometers and 130 kilometers, the NSDC said in a statement.
The Ukrainian military also checked the effectiveness of the new command system and the navigation equipment of Vilkha-M, the NSDC said.
In the near future, Ukraine is expected to complete the development of a new generation of missiles capable of striking targets at distances of 200 and more kilometers, it said.
The NSDC, which coordinates Ukraine's national missile program, said earlier that it plans to develop sea-based and air-based missile systems soon. Enditem
