BRATISLAVA, April 6 (Xinhua) -- With the title in the Slovak top-tier soccer league Fortuna Liga going almost certain to Slovan, D.Streda now have a good chance to earn a second place finish following a 1-0 win over Zilina.

D.Streda, sitting in the third place before the game, have deleted the three-point deficit behind second-placed Zilina after the home victory.

The first scoring chance into the game went to Michal Skvarka, but the captain of the visiting team failed to capitalize against the agile goalkeeper Martin Jedlicka. Shortly after that, the home team showed Zilina how it should be done when the Irish-born Connor Ronan scored the first and only goal of the game in the 15th minute.

Zilina had the perfect chance to even up the score before the end of the first half, but Jaroslav Mihalik's penalty shot only hit the crossbar of Jedlicka's goal.

In the second half, Skvarka got another great opportunity to score, but Jedlicka repeated his skillful performance and secured a 1-0 win for his team.

After the third round of the playoff phase, D.Streda remained in the third place behind Zilina on goal difference, both on 48 points. Enditem
