BAKU, April 6 (Xinhua) -- The 10 millionth Azerbaijani citizen was born here on Saturday morning, according to the country's State Statistics Committee.

The birth weight of the 52-cm baby girl is 3.6kg, health authorities said.

President Ilham Aliyev and First Vice-President Mehriban Aliyeva congratulated the newborn's parents and the nation.

Statistics show that as of Feb. 1, 49.9 percent of Azerbaijan's population are men, while 50.1 percent are women. About 52.8 percent of the country's population live in cities and towns, while 47.2 percent are villagers.

As of March 1, nearly 4.9 million people are employed in Azerbaijan, the authorities said. Enditem
