SINGAPORE, April 8 (Xinhua) -- Singapore stocks closed lower on Monday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) going down 0.22 percent, or 7.22 points, to close at 3,315.42.
A total of one billion shares changed hands with a turnover of 894.96 million Singapore dollars (about 659.98 million U.S. dollars). Gainers outnumbered losers by 204 to 192.
The STI index went up 0.19 percent, or 6.43 points, to close at 3,322.64 last Friday. Enditem
