HARARE, April 8 (Xinhua) -- The following are the news highlights in Zimbabwe's major media outlets on Monday.

-- The Zimbabwean government has started identifying and registering white former commercial farm owners who lost land during the country's agrarian reform to pave way for compensation after 53 million RTGS dollars was set aside for the exercise, Cabinet ministers have said.

The compensation will be for improvements that were made on the land. (The Herald)

-- Zimbabwe's ambassador to South Africa David Hamadziripi and other African diplomats have appealed to the South African government to ensure that political parties in that country avoid inflammatory statements against foreigners as this could spark xenophobic attacks.

In an interview, Hamadziripi said African diplomats held a meeting with South Africa's government officials last Friday to discuss their concerns over xenophobic attacks. (The Herald)

-- Zimbabwe opposition party MDC-T led by former Deputy Prime Minister Thokozani Khupe has said it will continue participating in dialogue meetings with President Emmerson Mnangagwa not because they support the present government, but as a sign of maturity.

MDC-T and several other parties have been attending the dialogue meetings with Mnangagwa, a platform which has been snubbed by the Nelson Chamisa-led MDC over the question of the ZANU-PF leader's legitimacy following the disputed July 2018 elections. MDC also takes exception to Mnangagwa being the convener. (NewsDay) Enditem
