LUSAKA, April 10 (Xinhua) -- Zambia's investment agency on Wednesday urged exporters in the country to take advantage of the "China Desk" created at the agency to access the Chinese market.

The Zambia Development Agency said the desk has been created to offer strategic and technical guidance to Chinese investors and prospective investors on the investment opportunities available and possible joint ventures between entrepreneurs from the two countries.

In a statement, the investment agency said it created the desk in partnership with the International Trade Center through the Partnership for Investment and Growth in Africa (PIGA) project to facilitate Zambia and Chinese business cooperation.

The creation of the desk was as a realization of the growing importance of China as a business partner both in trade and investment, it added.

The desk further facilitates Zambian enterprises' exports to the Chinese market through helping them participate in various trade fairs and exhibitions including the China International Import Expo, Perry Mapani, the investment agency's director-general said in the statement.

He said the PIGA has been working on a web portal that will be linked to the investment agency websites in both Chinese and English to make it easier for people to have relevant information on investment climate opportunities, rules and regulations.

"China is one of the major economic players in Zambia and across the continent hence the importance of coming up with strategies to deal with market and Chinese investors," he added.

It also offers tailored training programs to enterprises on various aspects of business, including how to approach the Chinese market. Enditem
