JAKARTA, April 10 (Xinhua) -- Indonesian Eni Nuraeni was named by Asian Athletic Association (AAA) as the best athletic coach in Asia for short-haul run category this year, Indonesian athletic sports association (PB PASI) announced on Wednesday.
"On behalf of AAA and all Asian related federations, I gladly announce and congratulate you for being selected to win Best Asian Coach Award this year," AAA President Dahlan Jumaan Al-Hamad said in his official letter sent to PB PASI recently.
Eni said it was a great surprise for her as she had never imagined before. "This is something that we can proud of. I expect that the award would further enhance spirits of my coach colleagues and the athletes as well to pursue for higher achievements in the future," she said on Tuesday.
Eni coaches young sprinter Lalu Muhammad Zohri to win the 100m gold medal in 10.20 seconds in the 2019 Grand Prix Malaysia Open athletics championships.
Earlier, Zohri won the 100m in 10.18 in the IAAF World U20 Championships in Tampere, Finland in 2018, where he also won the gold medal in 10.27 in the Asian Junior Championships in Gifu, Japan. Enditem
