TOKYO, April 12 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks opened mixed on Friday as a weaker yen against the U.S. dollar gave exporter issues a boost amid a circumspect mood after U.S. shares slipped overnight.

As of 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average edged 26.62 points, or 0.12 percent higher, from Thursday to 21,738.00.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, lost 3.65 points, or 0.23 percent, at 1,602.87.

Bank, textile and apparel as well as insurance-oriented issues comprised notable gainers in early trade. Enditem
