YAOUNDE -- At least four Cameroonian soldiers lost their lives on Friday in Mayo Moskota Sub-Division of the country's Far North region after landing on a mine planted by terror group Boko Haram, military sources said.

"Seven soldiers were also injured during the unfortunate incident. They are in hospital receiving treatment. Our brave soldiers are patrolling the area," a military officer who asked not to be named told Xinhua. (Cameroon-Boko Haram)

KHARTOUM -- Sixteen people were killed and 20 others injured during gatherings in Sudan's capital city Khartoum on Thursday and Friday, Sudanese police announced Friday.

"Criminal police investigations indicated that 16 people were killed and 20 injured by stray bullets," Hashim Abdel-Rahim, Sudanese police spokesman, said in a statement. (Sudan-Police)

RIO DE JANEIRO -- At least two people were killed, three injured and 17 others missing, after the collapse of two residential buildings Friday morning in the Muzema slum community, a poor area in west Rio de Janeiro, Brazil's civil defense authorities reported.

GAZA -- Israeli soldiers shot dead on Friday a Palestinian teen and wounded 10 others during clashes with Palestinian demonstrators in eastern Gaza Strip, close to the border with Israel, medics said.
