LUSAKA, April 13 (Xinhua) -- The following are news highlights in Zambia's major media outlets on Saturday.

-- Zambia has suspended the export of maize and maize meal to enable it to take stock of what the country has in the reserves and elsewhere.

President Edgar Lungu has since directed his minister in charge of agriculture to take stock of the available maize, assess what the country needs, the surplus and how much can be sold. (Zambia Daily Mail)

-- Zambian Vice-President Inonge Wina says there is need for the country to embrace innovations to energy challenges caused by climate change.

The Zambian vice-president said innovations were the solution to the energy challenges the country was facing. (Times of Zambia)

-- Hiked taxes in Zambia's mining industry will severely result in dwindling exports and ultimately injure the positive economic performance, an industry body has said.

Sokowani Chilembo, Chief Executive Office of the Zambia Chamber of Mines, said the association had put forward proposals on how the situation could be mitigated. (Daily Nation) Enditem
