GAZA, April 14 (Xinhua) -- A 16-year-old boy died on Sunday night of his critical wounds sustained 11 days ago by Israeli gunfire in eastern Gaza, close to the border with Israel, medical sources said.

The sources said that the Palestinian civil liaison office in Gaza was informed by the Israeli side that Isehaq Ishteiwi, from Rafah town in southern Gaza Strip, succumbed to his wounds in an Israeli hospital.

On April 3, the Israeli army announced that a Palestinian boy was shot and critically wounded after he and another two teenagers tried to infiltrate into Israel through the border with southeastern Gaza Strip.

The borders between Israel and the Gaza Strip, ruled by Islamic Hamas movement, has been tensed since the start of the "Great March of Return," which started on March 30 last year.

Health Ministry's officials in Gaza said that since the start of the marches and protests, the Israeli army has shot and killed 272 Palestinians and wounded 30,000 others. About 16,000 of them were shot by live gunshots. Enditem
