NEW DELHI, April 15 (Xinhua) -- India on Monday successfully test fired 1,000 km strike range sub-sonic cruise missile "Nirbhay" off the coast of its eastern sate of Odisha, local media reported.

The missile was developed by Bengaluru-based Aeronautical Development Establishment, a lab under India's Defence Research and Development Organization.

"Nirbhay missile is a long range, all-weather missile that can be launched from multiple platforms," an official said. "This sub-sonic cruise missile is capable of carrying conventional and nuclear warheads."

Reports said the cruise missile test was likely to provide a boost to India's military power. Enditem
