RIO DE JANEIRO, April 15 (Xinhua) -- Two-time Brazilian Serie A champions Botafogo have named former youth team coach Eduardo Barroca as the club's manager for the rest of the year.
The 36-year-old replaces Ze Ricardo, who was sacked on Friday following the team's elimination from the Copa do Brasil.
"(Barroca) is ready to take charge for the Brazilian Serie A championship and the Copa Sudamericana," the Rio de Janeiro outfit said in a statement.
Barroca was Botafogo's U-20 head coach from March 2016 to May 2018, leading the team to four titles before taking on a youth team role with Corinthians.
Botafogo will begin their 2019 Serie A campaign with an away fixture against Sao Paulo on April 27. Enditem
