PARIS -- Spire of Notre Dame Cathedral in central Paris collapsed in a huge fire on Monday afternoon.

The fire broke out at around 1700 GMT local time, according to French media. It may be linked to renovation works being carried out at the medieval cathedral, one of the capital's tourist magnets. Firefighters were still fighting to put the fire under control, Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo said. (France-Notre Dame-Fire)

UNITED NATIONS -- The 2019 Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) financing for development forum opened here Monday and its participants called for efforts to reform the multilateral trading system.

Many of the attendees' speeches started with stating economic risks and tensions which the world currently faces.

KIGALI -- At least 69 Rwandans were arrested over alleged genocide ideology crimes during the mourning week of the 25th commemoration of the 1994 Rwandan genocide against Tutsi that closed on Saturday, Rwanda Investigation Bureau (RIB) said Monday.

Seventy-two cases of genocide ideology were reported countrywide during the mourning week with some suspects still at large, RIB spokesperson Modeste Mbabazi said on Rwanda national television RTV. (Rwanda-Genocide ideology) Enditem
