YANGON -- The death toll in a vessel capsizal which took place in northwestern Myanmar on Monday has increased to 11, a local official told Xinhua Tuesday.

With over 40 people aboard, a motorized vessel capsized on Monday morning in the middle of the river while travelling to take part in celebrations of Chindwin Thingyan Festival which was being held in Monywa township. (Myanmar-Death Toll)

JAKARTA -- Indonesian authorities banned on Tuesday live broadcasting of quick counts on developing results of elections, to slap sentences against polling agencies that do so before the elections concluded at 13:00 p.m. Wednesday in western region.

Polling agencies and national TV stations are only allowed to broadcast their quick counts at 15:00 p.m. Western Indonesia Time (WIB) on Wednesday, or two hours after conclusion of elections process in the nation's western region. (Indonesia-Election)

TOKYO -- A Japanese high court on Tuesday ordered the central government to pay damages to 3,400 residents living near a U.S. base in the southernmost prefecture of Okinawa over military aircraft noise.

While upholding the Okinawa branch of the Naha District Court's ruling to pay compensation made in 2016, the upper court cut the compensation amount from 2.46 billion yen (22 million U.S. dollars) to 2.12 billion yen (19 million U.S. dollars). (Japan-U.S. Base)

TOKYO -- Mt. Aso in the Kumamoto Prefecture in southwestern Japan erupted on Tuesday evening, according to the Japan Meteorological Agency.
