SINGAPORE, April 17 (Xinhua) -- Singapore stocks closed higher on Wednesday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) going up 0.5 percent, or 16.60 points, to close at 3,348.64.
A total of 1.18 billion shares changed hands with a turnover of 1.15 billion Singapore dollars (about 850.28 million U.S. dollars). Losers outnumbered gainers by 213 to 206.
The STI index went up 0.19 percent, or 6.18 points, to close at 3,332.04 Tuesday. Enditem
