KHARTOUM, April 18 (Xinhua) -- Sudan's Foreign Ministry on Thursday denied reports that the Sudanese authorities refused to receive a Qatari delegation.

"The Ministry of Foreign Affairs would like to deny what has been reported by one of the satellite TV channels that Sudan refused to receive a Qatari delegation headed by deputy prime minister and foreign minister," said the ministry in a statement.

The ministry further explained that arrangements are underway for a visit by a high-level Qatari delegation to Khartoum.

Shams-Eddin Kabashi, spokesman of Sudan's Transitional Military Council, said in another statement that the reports circulated by local and foreign media were untrue.

Media quoted a senior Sudanese official as saying that the Sudanese authorities on Wednesday refused to receive a Qatari delegation.

Sudan's Transitional Military Council, chaired by Abdel-Fattah Al-Burhan, is tasked with running the country's affairs following the ouster of former President Omar al-Bashir. Enditem
