ISLAMABAD, April 18 (Xinhua) -- At least 14 people including 11 security personnel were killed when some unknown gunmen opened fire at them in Ormara area of Pakistan's southwestern Balochistan province in the wee hours of Thursday morning, senior security officials told Xinhua.

The killed included nine personnel from Pakistan navy, one from Pakistan coast guards, and one from Pakistan air force, whereas identities of the remaining three victims have not been determined yet, speaking on the condition of anonymity, security officials from Balochistan said.

The incident happened when five vans carrying civilians and the victims were stopped by some 20-25 militants disguising as security personnel to check identity cards of the passengers.

After scanning the identities, the militants forcibly removed 14 people from different buses and allowed the remaining passengers to head to their destination.

After reaching a safe place, two soldiers of Pakistan army, who were traveling in one of the vans informed security forces about the whole incident who rushed to the incident site and recovered 14 bodies who were shifted to Ormara hospital, the sources added.

The vans were heading towards capital city Karachi of neighboring Sindh province.

Confirming the incident, Pakistan Navy spokesperson said that the 14 killed included several navy personnel.

Later Thursday morning, proscribed organization Baloch Raji Ajoi Sangar claimed the attack on their unverified twitter account, saying that their offensives against the security forces will further intensify.

Condemnation poured in the form of official statements and social media posts after the attack. Officials, political leaders and general public vowed to defeat militancy in the posts, saying that their resolve to overcome militancy cannot be deterred from such attacks.

Condemning the attack, Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan sought a solicited report into the incident, and directed the concerned authorities to make every possible effort to identify and bring the perpetrators of the attack to justice, the prime minister office said in a statement. Enditem
