MOGADISHU, April 18 (Xinhua) -- Somalia said Thursday it has kicked off a national consultation process for the draft information and communications technology (ICT) policy that is expected to guide the country's economic development through a coordinated use of ICT.

The Ministry of Post, Telecom and Technology said the policy is aimed at promoting transformation, growth, inclusiveness, sustainability, innovation and partnerships in the mainstream economy.

Abdi Ashur Hassan, minister of post, telecom and technology said the policy covers all major aspects of life and also sets out a realistic vision for the development and enhancement of ICT across Somalia over the period of 2019-2024, adding that the deadline for feedback is May 31.

"It is a comprehensive blueprint that will harmonize the country's ICT initiatives," Hassan said in Mogadishu. Enditem
