UNITED NATIONS, April 18 (Xinhua) -- UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres on Thursday appointed Fabrizio Hochschild Drummond of Chile as his special adviser on the preparations for the commemoration of the world body's 75th anniversary.
Hochschild will be at the undersecretary-general level, said Guterres' press office.
He will support Guterres in coordinating the preparations for the commemoration of the 75th anniversary of the United Nations in 2020 and related celebrations, through a system-wide process of consultations and reflections on the role of the United Nations in advancing international cooperation.
Hochschild has been serving as assistant secretary-general for strategic coordination in Guterres' Executive Office since 2017. Volker Turk of Austria will take up his role at the Executive Office.
Hochschild has more than 30 years of experience at the United Nations, both at headquarters and the field. He began his UN career in 1988 with the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees in Sudan.
Hochschild is a graduate of the University of Oxford in Britain. Enditem
