TBILISI, April 19 (Xinhua) -- Georgian Prime Minister Mamuka Bakhtadze on Friday appointed Natia Turnava as the new minister of economy and sustainable development.

Giorgi Kobulia, who served as the economy minister from July 2018, was dismissed earlier on the same day.

Bakhtadze announced the decision and endorsed the new minister to the public at a briefing in the Georgian capital city of Tbilisi, saying that he believed Turnava will succeed in fulfilling her duties.

"Natia is a high-level professional with impressive experience. Today we need quick decisions, fast decision-making, to serve the public, and the interests of entrepreneurs," said the prime minister.

Turnava had been the Deputy Minister of Economy since September 2018. Before that, she worked as the deputy chief executive officer of the Partnership Fund, a major state-owned investment fund. Enditem
