TOKYO, April 22 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks inched higher Monday morning amid a lack of cues from overseas markets due to the Easter holidays and as investors eyed upcoming earnings reports from Japanese companies due out this week.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average inched up 20.44 points, or 0.09 percent, from Friday to 22,221.00.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, edged 2.08 points, or 0.13 percent higher, at 1,619.01.

Construction and marine transportation issues comprised those that gained the most by the morning break. Enditem
