ASTANA -- The ruling Nur Otan party of Kazakhstan on Tuesday nominated Kassym-Jomart Tokayev as its candidate for the 2019 extraordinary presidential election.

MOSCOW -- Russian President Vladimir Putin and the top leader of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) Kim Jong Un will meet on Thursday in Russia's Far East city of Vladivostok, Kremlin aide Yuri Ushakov said Tuesday.

COLOMBO -- Sri Lankan Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe said on Tuesday that authorities are making progress in identifying the culprits of the series of bombing attacks and evidence had been found on foreign links of the attacks.

Speaking at a press conference in Temple Trees, Wickremesinghe said that authorities are looking at the claim by Islamic State (IS) that they are responsible for the Sunday bombing blasts that killed more than 300 people and injured over 500 others. (Sri Lanka-Bombings)

YANGON -- About 54 jade miners went missing after the collapse of a tailing pond in Myanmar's Kachin state, the Ministry of Information said Tuesday.

The tailing pond collapsed late Monday at an unused jade mining site owned by Yunati mining company in Hmaw Won village in Hpakant mining region, the ministry said in a release. (Myanmar-Mining Accident)

BAGHDAD -- Iraqi President Barham Salih on Tuesday confirmed his full support for Iraq's ancient site of Babylon to be re-inscribed on the World Heritage List.
