DUSHANBE -- Tajik President Emomali Rahmon said the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) is a new model of international cooperation.

VLADIVOSTOK -- Top leader of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) Kim Jong Un arrived here in his train on Wednesday for his first meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Thursday.

COLOMBO -- Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena has asked the country's Police Chief Pujith Jayasundara and Defense Secretary Hemasiri Fernando to resign following serious security lapses, which led to Sunday's explosions, an official close to the president told Xinhua on Wednesday.

DAMASCUS -- At least six Syrian government forces were killed Wednesday when the rebels launched a surprise attack in the central province of Hama, a war monitor reported.
A rebel group with previous affiliation to the Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) launched an attack at dawn Wednesday in the al-Ghab Plains area, clashing with the Syrian forces after sneaking into the targeted area, said the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights. (Syria-Rebel-Attack) Enditem
