BEIJING -- Chinese stocks closed lower on Friday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index down 1.20 percent, closing at 3,086.40 points.

The Shenzhen Component Index closed 1.28 percent lower at 9,780.82 points.

JAKARTA -- Indonesia shares closed higher by 28.29 points, or 0.44 percent, to a level of 6,401.08 on Friday.

Some 369,699 transactions were booked, involving 12.5 billion copies of shares with a value of 8.2 trillion rupiah (about 577.7 million U.S. Dollars).

SINGAPORE -- Singapore stocks closed higher on Friday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) going up 0.2 percent, or 6.67 points, to close at 3,356.95.

A total of 951.06 million shares changed hands with a turnover of 1.04 billion Singapore dollars (about 763.30 million U.S. dollars). Gainers outnumbered losers by 195 to 191.

MUMBAI -- Indian markets closed higher Friday.

Among the sectors, except auto, all other sectors ended in green led by metal, bank, energy, IT, pharma and FMCG.

HO CHI MINH CITY -- VN-Index, the stock market index of Ho Chi Minh City bourse in southern Vietnam, closed at 979.64 points on Friday, up 5.51 points, or 0.57 percent against the previous trading day.

Nearly 118.540 million shares worth 2.792 trillion Vietnamese dong (121.4 million U.S. dollars) changed hands at the Ho Chi Minh City Stock Exchange, with prices of 153 stocks rising, 126 stocks decreasing, and 101 stocks remaining unchanged.

HANOI -- The HNX-Index, the benchmark of the northern Hanoi Stock Exchange, inched up to 107.46 points on Friday from last week's closure of 105.88 points.

Stocks experienced alternate ups and downs this week. Financial and banking tickers lost while oil and gas gained in most sessions. In particular, oil and gas led the gainers with 1.52 percent up on Monday, 2.68 percent on Tuesday, 0.2 percent on Wednesday, and 0.38 percent on Thursday.

TOKYO -- Tokyo stocks closed lower Friday as investors opted to secure profits ahead of the 10-day string of Golden Week holidays starting this weekend.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average lost 48.85 points, or 0.22 percent, from Thursday to close the day at 22,258.73.

KUALA LUMPUR -- The Malaysian stock market ended higher here on Friday.

The Kuala Lumpur Composite Index (KLCI) was at 1.638.38 up 2.70 points or 0.17 percent, and the Emas was at 11,665.81 up 11.32 points or 0.10 percent.

HONG KONG -- Hong Kong stocks closed up 55.21 points, or 0.19 percent, to 29,605.01 points on Friday.

The benchmark Hang Seng Index traded between 29,504.14 and 29,672.79. Turnover totaled 86.10 billion Hong Kong dollars (about 10.98 billion U.S. dollars).

HANOI -- Stock market index of Vietnam's capital Hanoi, HNX-Index, closed at 107.46 points on Friday, up 0.53 points or 0.49 percent from the previous trading session.

Over 31.2 million shares worth more than 346.7 billion Vietnamese dong (15.1 million U.S. dollars) were traded at the Hanoi Stock Exchange on Friday. Specifically, foreign investors bought 459,500 shares valued at 6.8 billion Vietnamese dong (296,957 U.S. dollars), and sold 283,994 shares valued at over 5.5 billion Vietnamese dong (240,000 U.S. dollars).

VIENTIANE -- The Lao stock market closed on Friday with an increase of 5.46 percent compared to the previous trading day.

SYDNEY -- The Australian share market ended flat on Friday, with a fall in oil prices and U.S. dollar strength weighing on resources stocks.
