BEIJING -- Chinese stocks closed lower on Monday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index down 0.77 percent, at 3,062.50 points.

The Shenzhen Component Index closed 1.62 percent lower at 9,622.49 points.

HONG KONG -- Hong Kong stocks closed up 287.80 points, or 0.97 percent, to 29,892.81 points on Monday.

The benchmark Hang Seng Index traded between 29,639.38 and 29,917.11. Turnover totaled 74.72 billion Hong Kong dollars (about 9.53 billion U.S. dollars).

SINGAPORE -- Singaporean stocks closed higher on Monday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) going up 1.49 percent, or 50.07 points, to close at 3,407.02.

A total of 1.05 billion shares changed hands with a turnover of 1.23 billion Singaporean dollars (about 903.78 million U.S. dollars). Gainers outnumbered losers by 218 to 171.

BANGKOK -- The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) index Monday moved down 0.47 points, or 0.03 percent to close at 1,666.68 points.

Some 9.39 billion shares worth 37.10 billion baht (about 1.17 billion U.S. dollars) changed hands.

KUALA LUMPUR -- The Malaysian stock market ended lower here on Monday.

The Kuala Lumpur Composite Index (KLCI) was at 1.637.40 down 0.98 points or 0.06 percent, and the Emas was at 11,632.66 down 33.15 points or 0.28 percent.

SEOUL -- Seoul shares ended higher Monday.

The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) gained 37.12 points, or 1.70 percent, to settle at 2,216.43. Trading volume stood at 374 million shares worth 4.9 trillion won (4.2 billion U.S. dollars).

SYDNEY -- The Australian share market has ended lower on Monday with a strengthening U.S. dollar weighing on the local index.

At the close of trade, the benchmark S&P/ASX 200 index was down 26.10 points or 0.41 percent at 6,359.50, while the broader All Ordinaries index fell 23.60 points or 23.60 percent at 6,449.60.

MANILA -- Philippine shares closed 0.37 percent higher on Monday.

The benchmark Philippine Stock Exchange index increased by 28.74 points to 7,897.02. The all-share index went up by 8.04 points, or 0.17 percent, to 4,864.39.

PHNOM PENH -- Cambodia's stocks finished higher on Monday, with the Cambodia Securities Exchange Index up 2.2 points, or 0.39 percent, to close at 570.77.

A total of 4,485 shares worth 39.5 million riel (9,780 U.S. dollars) were traded.

WELLINGTON -- New Zealand stock market rose on Monday, led by software company Pushpay.
