KIGALI, May 2 (Xinhua) -- Rwanda will next month host the first-ever conference of African business owners, business leaders, chief executive officers and managing directors of mid-sized companies on the continent, an Rwandan official said Thursday.

The conference dubbed "Made-In-Africa Leadership Conference" is an exclusive annual gathering of African business owners, business leaders, chief executive officers and managing directors of mid-sized companies that has annual turnover ranging from 500,000 U.S. dollars to 100 million dollars.

"Rwanda is honored to have been chosen to host such an important event, because it demonstrates our country's efforts to support the growth of businesses whether small or big," said Frank Murangwa, director of destination marketing at the Rwanda Convention Bureau (RCB), at a press conference in Kigali, capital city of Rwanda.

RCB entered into a partnership with a Mauritius-based pan-African organization to host the conference in Rwanda that is slated for June 6 to 7 in Kigali, said Murangwa.

In future years the conference hosting will rotate among other countries in Africa, he said.

Rwanda targets to raise revenue of 88 million dollars through its Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, Events and Exhibitions tourism strategy within the period of 2019/2020 fiscal year, RCB said in February.

The country was ranked the third most popular destinations in Africa for accommodating international meetings and events in International Congress and Convention Association's rankings released in May 2018. Enditem
