SYDNEY -- Papua New Guinea (PNG) Prime Minister Peter O'Neill is set to face a vote of no confidence in his government, after a number of high-profile ministers defected from the party.

According to local newspaper the Post Courier on Monday, opposition parties claimed they have the backing of 57 members of parliament, enough to gain a majority in the 111-seat parliament.(PNG-PM-Vote)

MANILA -- An earthquake of 5.8-magnitude struck Ilocos Norte province in the northern Philippines on Monday, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.

The institute said the quake, which struck at 10:48 a.m. local time, hit at a depth of 8 km, about 11 km northwest of Pagudpud town in Ilocos Norte.

BANGKOK -- Thailand's newly crowned King Maha Vajiralongkorn on Sunday granted new titles to the members of the royal family after he was crowned in the Baisal Daksin Throne Hall of the Grand Palace in Bangkok on Saturday.
