KAMPALA, May 6 (Xinhua) -- Uganda's head coach Steve Tikolo has named the squad for the International Cricket Council (ICC) Men's Twenty20 World Cup Africa qualifier slated for May 15-25 in Kampala.

Inspirational captain Roger Mukasa has maintained his position, while Brian Masaba is the vice-captain.

"We have picked the best players that we believe will do the job for the country. These guys have worked hard and earned the right to represent their country," coach Tikolo told Xinhua on Monday in Kampala.

Uganda, Botswana, Namibia, Ghana, Nigeria and Kenya will take part in the tournament with the best two progressing to the ICC Men's Twenty20 World Cup global qualifier in the United Arab Emirates from Oct. 11-Nov. 3.

"It is not going to be an easy tournament. But we know what to expect and we are ready for the challenge especially after disappointing in 2017," team captain Mukasa told Xinhua.

Uganda hosted the ICC World Cricket League Division III in May 2017 although they did not perform well.

In May last year Uganda won the ICC World Cricket League Division 4 held in Malaysia to qualify for the more competitive Division 3 together with Denmark.

The Ugandan squad includes Roger Mukasa (Captain), Brian Masaba (Vice Captain), Arnold Otwani, Hamu Kayondo, Zephaniah Arinaitwe, Dinesh Nakrani, Riazat Ali Shah, Deus Muhumuza, Rogers Olipa, Charles Waiswa, Frank Nsubuga, Emmanuel Isaneez, Henry Ssenyondo, Fred Achelam.

The reserves include Jonathan Ssebanja and Simon Ssesazi. Enditem
