TOKYO, May 9 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks opened lower Thursday following choppy trade on Wall Street overnight as concerns remain about the growth outlook for the global economy.
As of 9:15 a.m. local time, the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average lost 118.82 points, or 0.55 percent, from Wednesday to 21,483.77.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, fell 14.13 points, or 0.90 percent, at 1,558.20.
Construction, electric power and gas, pulp and paper-oriented issues comprised those that declined the most in the opening minutes after the morning bell. Enditem
