TOKYO, May 9 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks lost ground Thursday morning as the market inherited a circumspect mood from Wall Street overnight, with investor jitters mounting over the outlook for the global economy.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average dropped 268.46 points, or 1.24 percent, from Wednesday to 21,334.13.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, lost 23.41 points, or 1.49 percent, at 1,548.92.
Marine transportation, construction, and farm and fishery-linked issues comprised those that declined the most by the morning break. Enditem
