TOKYO, May 10 (Xinhua) -- Japan has announced a 23-woman squad on Friday for next month's World Cup in France, calling up two teenage strikers as well as veteran forward Mana Iwabuchi.
Head coach Asako Takakura, 51, who took in charge of the Japanese team in 2016 and became the first woman to hold the position, named 18-year-old Jun Endo and 19-year-old Riko Ueki in the attacking lineup.
Japan won the World Cup in 2011 and finished runner-up to the United States at the previous edition in 2015.
Following is the 23-strong roster for the current world No. 7, who has been drawn into Group D with England, Scotland and Argentina for the June 7-July 7 tournament:
Goalkeepers: Sakiko Ikeda, Ayaka Yamashita, Chika Hirao
Defenders: Aya Sameshima, Rumi Utsugi, Saki Kumagai, Shiori Miyake, Risa Shimizu, Nana Ichisei, Asato Miyagawa, Moeka Minami
Midfielders: Mizuho Sakaguchi, Emi Nakajima, Yuka Momiki, Yui Hasegawa, Hina Sugita, Narumi Miura
Forwards: Yuika Sugasawa, Mana Iwabuchi, Kumi Yokoyama, Rikako Kobayashi, Riko Ueki, Jun Endo
