MACAO -- The European Union (EU)'s report on Macao contained groundless and irresponsible claims, and made inappropriate comments about Macao's internal affairs, the Office of the Government Spokesperson of the Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) of China said on Friday.

The SAR government expressed its strong opposition after the release of the 2018 annual report on the Macao SAR issued by the EU. (EU-Macao-Report)

SEOUL -- Stephen Biegun, U.S. special representative for the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) affairs, said Friday that the door remained open for the DPRK's return to negotiations.

KABUL -- Nine civilians were killed and nine others wounded in landmine explosions in two Afghan provinces, authorities said Friday.

In one incident on Friday morning, five civilians were killed and four others wounded after a vehicle carrying them touched off an improvised explosive device (IED) in Nawa Maish district of central Daykundi province, district chief Hajji Baal Khan told Xinhua.
