JAKARTA, May 10 (Xinhua) -- Indonesia is optimistic to win the 2019 Sudirman Cup after its victories at New Zealand Open, the Indonesian team officials said here on Friday.

Indonesia won both men's singles and doubles titles in the Badminton World Federation (BWF) Super 300 tournament in Auckland from April 30 to May 5.

Indonesian Badminton Association (PBSI) has assigned 20 players to compete at 2019 Sudirman Cup from May 19 to 26 in China's Nanning.

Indonesian Sudirman Cup team Chef de Mission Ahmad Budiharto said that the men's singles would be the team's reliable group to win the tournament.

PBSI Sports Development director Susy Susanti said that Indonesia could bring the Sudirman Cup to the nation this year.

"Our aim is to bring back Sudirman Cup after 30 years. That is the spirit that we would highlight in the upcoming tournament," Susy said.

Sudirman Cup mixed team tournament is named after Dick Sudirman, a former Indonesian badminton player and the founder of PBSI.

Indonesia won the first Sudirman Cup in Jakarta in 1989. Enditem
