Profile: Greek President Prokopis Pavlopoulos

BEIJING, May 11 (Xinhua) -- Greek President Prokopis Pavlopoulos will pay a state visit to China from May 12 to 16 at the invitation of his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping. During the visit, Pavlopoulos will also attend the Conference on Dialogue of Asian Civilizations.

Pavlopoulos was born on July 10, 1950. He is a professor of law at the University of Athens and a member of Greece's New Democracy party.

He has served as government spokesman, political advisor to the president of the New Democracy party and the party's spokesman. Pavlopoulos was a member of parliament from 2000 to 2014 and served as the minister of the interior from 2004 to 2009.

In March 2015, Pavlopoulos took office as the seventh president of Greece with a five-year term. Enditem
