VILNIUS -- Economist Gitanas Nauseda and former Lithuania's finance minister Ingrida Simonyte head to the presidential runoff in two weeks after Sunday's ballot, preliminary results announced by the country's Central Electoral Commission (VRK) showed early morning on Monday.

According to the VRK data after votes in 1630 polling stations out of the total 1972 stations counted, Nauseda lead the race with 31.2 percent of voters' support, while Simonyte ranked second with 27.1 percent. (Lithuania-Elections)

RABAT -- Dozens of illegal Sub-Saharan African immigrants tried on Sunday to storm through the border fence between Morocco and the Spanish enclave of Melillia, official MAP news agency reported.

Moroccan public forces intervened and arrested 40 illegal immigrants while 50 others climbed the guarded fence to enter Melillia, MAP said. (Morocco-Immigrants-Spain)

TRIPOLI -- Libyan navy on Sunday said it rescued 147 illegal immigrants in two separate operations off the country's western coast.

The first rescue operation took place some 68 miles off the coast of the city of Zawiya, 45 km west of the capital Tripoli.

A total of 96 illegal immigrants, including 16 women and 4 children, have been rescued in this operation, according to the Libyan navy's information office. (Libya-Illegal Immigrants)

TIRANA -- Albanian State Police announced on Sunday that 50 people were arrested for violent acts during Saturday's opposition protest.

According to the State Police statement, the arrests were made for criminal offenses of "opposing police order," "hitting someone while on duty," "disturbing public order," "destroying property through arson" and "breach of rules regarding explosives." (Albania-Arrest-Protest) Enditem
