LUSAKA, May 13 (Xinhua) -- The following are news highlights in Zambia's major media outlets on Monday.

-- Zambia has applauded the tolerance exhibited by political parties which participated in the recently held South African elections.

Minister of Foreign Affairs Joseph Malanji, who led a Southern African Development Community (SADC) electoral observer mission to that country, said the polls were well, without any major incidences. (Times of Zambia)

-- The Zambian government says it is in the process of formulating an animal health policy and a strategic plan for animal welfare and disease control.

Minister of Fisheries and Livestock Kampamba Mulenga said this would reduce the incidence of livestock diseases by improving vaccine production, distribution and delivery. (Zambia Daily Mail)

-- Zambian President Edgar Lungu has pledged is government's commitment to address challenges facing women and girls empowerment.

Lungu said women and girls empowerment will continue to be among government's top priorities and that government will continue to implement policies aimed to empowering women and girls. (Daily Nation)

-- Zambia's electoral body says it will engage its sister body in South Africa to share some of the best practices in the management of elections.

Justice Esau Chulu, Chairperson of the Electoral Commission of Zambia said his organization would engage the Independent Electoral Commission of South Africa especially on how to manage electoral related disinformation and abuse of social media. (The Mast) Enditem
