KHARTOUM, May 13 (Xinhua) -- Sudan's Transitional Military Council (TMC) said on Monday that unidentified groups attacked protesters at the sit-in site in Khartoum, killing an army officer and injuring three others and a number of civilians.
"There are parties targeting the revolution as they are disturbed by the results reached today, where they are working to foil any agreement reached and push the country into a dark tunnel," said the TMC in a statement.
The unidentified groups shot guns and created "security disturbances in and outside the sit-in site," while "assaulting the citizens and the regular forces performing the duty of protecting the protesters," it added.
The council also vowed to work with the opposition the Freedom and Change Alliance to adopt measures to prevent a recurrence of such incident.
The TMC, chaired by Abdel-Fattah Al-Burhan, is tasked with running Sudan's affairs following the ouster of former President Omar al-Bashir. Enditem
