NAIROBI, May 15 (Xinhua) -- The following are the news highlights in Kenyan media outlets on Wednesday.

-- The government plans to spend billions of shillings on projects that have stalled or have been rocked by corruption, budget documents before Parliament show.

In the wake of reports of the collapse of the multibillion shilling Galana-Kulalu Irrigation project, the government has allocated another 7.9 billion shilling for irrigation this year, while the dams projects - riddled with corruption - have another 25.1 billion shilling to spend this year. -- Four senior revenue officials were arrested after detectives raided the tax-man's headquarters and other offices at Mombasa port on Monday evening.

The four were arrested as part of the State's crackdown on tax evasion, money laundering and graft.(Standard)

-- President Uhuru Kenyatta ordered a crackdown on gold scammers after the ruler of the United Arab Emirates Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum complained to him that his gold had been seized at JKIA.

His business associate Ali Zandi who runs a gold trading company in Dubai had informed Sheikh Maktoum that their gold consignment worth millions of shillings from DR Congo had been detained at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport.(Star) Enditem
