SEOUL -- South Korea's finance ministry said on Friday that its economy faced the expanded downside risks amid the global economic slowdown.

The Ministry of Economy and Finance said in its monthly economic assessment report, called Green Book, that the downside risks facing the economy expanded in the first quarter due to the faster-than-expected global economic slump and the downturn of business cycle in the semiconductor industry. KUALA LUMPUR -- Malaysian economists have maintained Malaysia's full-year growth forecast at 4.7 percent as they foresee the government's recent stimulus measures will support the country's economy.

Maybank Investment Bank Research said on Friday that measures to stimulate the domestic economy have been rolled out with the central bank lowering the country's interest rate and the government reviving some major infrastructure and development projects. (Malaysia-Growth)

YANGON -- Myanmar's Union Parliament has approved borrowing a loan of 35.7 million euros (40.34 million U.S. dollars) from the Agence Francaise de Development (AFD) funds, parliament sources said Friday.

Deputy Minister of Electricity and Energy Dr. Tun Naing told the parliament that the loan is used for conducting all round repair works on five hydroelectric power stations in the country. (Myanmar-Loan)

SINGAPORE -- Singapore's non-oil domestic exports (NODX) to the Chinese mainland decreased by 5.8 percent year on year in April, compared to the revised previous month's contraction of 8.7 percent, according to a media release issued by a government agency Enterprise Singapore on Friday.

The decline was contributed to the exports of petrochemicals, specialized machinery and heating and cooling equipment, which fell by 19.4 percent, 10.8 percent and 41.7 percent year on year, respectively. (Singapore-China-Export) Enditem
